SME modes of innovation in European catching-up countries: The impact of STI and DUI drivers on technological innovation

• Innovation systems influence SME innovation. Types of technological innovation moderate SMEs modes. Returns from STI are different across systems. Catching-up countries primarily show DUI modes and process limited returns At the intersection systems, this study investigates characteristics in catching-up European (Southern, Central Eastern European) compare it with selected among most advanced Europe as a mean to key differences. Distinguishing between ( Science, Technology ) learning-by-Doing, Using Interacting drivers, analyzing their impact on we 29,834 15 countries.
